With openldap.conf you mean <samba4-prefix>/private/ldap/slapd.conf? No,
I did not change anything during provisioning.

Yes, I've edited modules.conf now since my OpenLDAP 2.4 is now built
with all backends and overlays as shared libs.

I'd recommend to run slapd with parameter -d 9 to see on console if
anything fails.
