Yes, that's what I also think. Two points:

How large are those savings?

Don't we open up ourselves to a potential DoS? Do we prevent
sucking up stuff into user space faster than we handle it?
How can we make sure the kernel throttles the client by
closing the TCP window when there's more work than we can
swallow at the moment?
