I probably feel somewhat annoyed because the Samba mailing lists use the
"eliminatecc" feature of mailman (I'm unsure of the exact name of the
setting): when you're CC'ed to a list mail, you only get one copy of the
mail and not two.

As a consequence, such private copies are often sorted into one's
personal mail folder instead of being sorted in the list's
folder....which then becomes incomplete if you forget about moving the
CC mail back to the list folder.

Most of the time, when I get a CC mail in my personal mail folder, I
discard it after reading as I know the mail is also in the list's
folder....unless the list is using that awkward feature of mailman..:-).

And, of course, most lists do not use that feature while some are
(namely the Samba lists, here). I don't know whether that choice was
made on purpose or not...I just see it as quite uncommon.

Well, now I more or less remember that I need to move mails back to the
list's folder when this is a lists.samba.org mail so this is not that a
big problem.

(and, more generally, the "CC or not in mailing lists" behaviour is an
interesting flamewar trigger)
