Hi Volker,

We have always made our Samba patches available to whoever wants them.
We have also submitted ALL of our patches and enhancements to the Samba
technical list, on a number of occasions; some you have taken, and some
you have chosen not to - your prerogative.

This latest round represents the ones that we think are still issues in
3.2, 3.3 and 3.4, and we are prepared to deliver them in the form that
is easiest for you. Which ones would you like?

We know the Samba team does do not accept corporation copyrights and in
the past we have named individuals. We would prefer to release these
simple bug fixes without any copyrights, but if you feel a copyright is
necessary we can accommodate that too.

Dave Daugherty
Centrify Corp.

Well, if your patches have not been open so far, you have
been in violation of the GPL license.

Probably what you want to achieve with your mail is to get
your already publically available patches accepted upstream,
right? :-)

If so, some questions:

Who is the copyright owner of those patches? The patches
themselves do not contain any hint about this.

You might be aware that we will probably not change Samba
3.0 anymore except for security fixes. 3.2 and 3.3 are in
bug-fix mode only. The main development happens right now in
the master and 3.4 branches of Samba.

We would be happy to accept patches for those branches! Can
you send in the patches applying correctly to 3.4?

To make review also your work to integrate your patches into
upstream Samba easier, you might want to look at

Thanks a lot,

Volker
