Samba the Samba 3.0 series has been frozen for some time and will not receive 
any feature updates.

Optionally, you could have a look at Samba 3.4.0, which is due to be released 
in about a week (see 
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Release_Planning_for_Samba_3.4). If you're 
interested, feel free to take a look at the release candidate.

Samba 3.4.0 will include a net eventlog command as well.
