Outdated packaging in packaging/Debian

The packaging/Debian directory currently present in master hasn't been
updated in a while, the last real update was from august 2006 (around
3.0.20).

Would anybody object to removing the contents of this directory and
instead putting in a README file that points to the svn.debian.org and
the SerNet Debian packages?
