Why can't winbind children respond to reload messages?

Before I re-enable reload messages in winbind children, is there any
reason they shouldn't perform this?  One of the reasons we need it is
that we should be able to force a log close/reopen through
messaging/smbcontrol.

I'm trying to get logrotate working again, and I'd like to have
smbcontrol doing this.
