With a few typos fixed, the patch now works!

I would appreciate a review of my now working patch, so I can commit
it.  

I would also like an opinion on using this module by default - it seems
to me that if replication events are not triggered, there is no
particular cost to maintaining the metadata.  I do however intend to
swap the module out when using the LDAP backend, at least for the
timebeing.  

If we can start using the module by default, it also becomes much easier
to have a DRSUAPI-based vampire setup.
