Ok, got confirmation from Herb that this patch does
fix the problem also and is more general than the last
one.

I'll check this in tomorrow after I've had a chance
to talk to Volker & Karolin on the phone.

Karolin, just to confirm - this is a show-stopper for
3.2.2.
