FWIW, the smb service already has a TXT record defined, according to  
<http://www.dns-sd.org/ServiceTypes.html>:

smb             Server Message Block over TCP/IP
                 Defined TXT keys: u=<username> p=<password> path=<path>

It doesn't look like a particularly useful set of keys and I've never  
heard of anyone actually using it.
