The gnome config stuff would introduce a heavier dependency
wouldn't it?

I agree that libelektra is somewhat of a bust for us.  We
looked at internally in Centeris as well and it lacked
a notification API on key/value changes IIRC.  That could
be added.

Any storage backend would be somewhat interchangeable for
us as we would almost certainly wrap it in our own API.
Perhaps ldb is a better choice here.  I'm not honestly sure.

There should be a system config API on *nix but there's just
not a uniformed model that people can be guaranteed to be
present.
