Just out of interest, how would we replicate a Windows-originating
volume serial number shown like this :

U:\>dir c:
 Volume in drive C is DRIVE_C
 Volume Serial Number is 02E2-241B

 Directory of C:\
[...]

in the stated format :

VL> You have to put in the volume id as a decimal value

Is it just a matter of doing a straight hex-to-dec numeric conversion
(and ignoring the hyphen) ?
i.e. would the above VSN become "48374811" in smb.conf ?
