Folks,

I've done more fleshing out of the libwbclient API
proposed a few months ago.

The git repo (branch feature/libwbclient) is now at
  git://git.likewisesoftware.com/gcarter/samba.git

The Doxygen files are at

This go round I've implemented (but no fully tested) the
getpwnam(), et. al. family lof functions (except getpwent() &
getgrent()).
