This is what I use for builds.  works in tree and
out of tree but normally I export the source tree
using NFS and rebuild on various servers.

$ ( cd $HOME/src/samba3/source && ./autogen.sh )
$ mkdir /data/build-3.0.24-svn && cd /data/build-3.0.24-svn
$ build-samba $HOME/src/samba3/source
