Vista RC2 doesn't like samba-3.0.10+ or 3.0.22+

We've got a weird one...
We have just got some test Vista RC2 boxes up, and they can't reliably
connect to our Samba servers. We have CentOS4.4 samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9 and
FC5 samba-3.0.23c-1.fc5 (fully patched), and they present a weird problem.
With Win2000, WinXP and Win2K3 clients, they are acting fine. But with
Vista, you can't get a sharing listing (via \\hostname) nor connect to a
share (via \\hostname\share) - instead Vista reports "The parameter is
incorrect" and indeed the Samba logs show "NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER".
It appears when Vista and Samba are negotiating what they have in
common, Vista asks for something Samba doesn't have and then stops?
Anyway, the *really* weird thing is that although \\servername doesn't
work - *if you create a "netbios aliases" entry* within smb.conf - Vista
can connect to that!!!!
Has anyone any idea what that could mean?
Thanks!
