You can but I still don't see why you are so sensitive to this option.
I am not changing any default, just giving a way to manage things in a
consistent way with an external manager.

It is understood that changing a mapping is not something to do lightly,
it means you basically change the ownership of your files, but I do  not
see why being inconsistent between the central mapping manager and a
server or requiring manual intervention on potentially many servers is
in any way better.
