Check the ./configure script for "cannot run test program while cross 
compiling" (it's several times there); a line or two above you will have 
something like "if $crosscompiling ... = yes".

Change "yes" to something else ("yxes"), this way you will cheat the 
script, and you will be able to compile.

However, you are likely to have some issues, as the configure script 
"cannot run test program while cross compiling", and it will not be able 
to guess some values (which can be hard to track, but is doable with the 
help of samba groups).
