deprecating smbmount ?

Doesn't work for me:
SuSE 10.1:

The host is not down. My SuSE 10.0 server has that share mounted via a
bash alias as follows:

smbmount //p-t18/G /smbmnt/p-t18/G -o guest,ro,dmask=777,fmask=664

Those fstab entries, with s/cifs/smbfs/, are the same that worked a few
samba 3 versions ago and with samba v2.
