I'm using debian sarge on a 32bit arch.
The configure line I used is:
./configure \
        --with-fhs \
        --enable-shared \
        --enable-static \
        --with-netatalk \
        --with-pam \
        --with-syslog \
        --with-utmp \
        --with-readline \
        --with-pam_smbpass \
        --with-libsmbclient \
        --with-winbind \
        --with-msdfs \
        --with-automount \
        --with-tdbsam \
        --with-ldap \
        --with-ads \
        --with-python=python2.3 \
        --with-smbmount \
        --enable-socket-wrapper \
        --with-acl-support \
        --with-quotas

All the packages needed to compile (libkrb5-dev, libldap2-dev) where
downloaded via apt-get:
ii  libkrb5-dev    1.3.6-2sarge2  Headers and development libraries for
MIT Ke
ii  libldap2-dev   2.1.30-8       OpenLDAP development libraries
