3.0.23rc3: pam_winbind.so 'PAM unable to resolve symbols'

Dear all,

having successfully compiled the 3.0.23rc3 and updated a working 3.0.21c on
CentOS 4.3
using the provided makerpms.sh script from ./packaging/RHEL.

I get messages in /var/log/messages 

su: PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_authenticate
su: PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_setcred
su: PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_acct_mgmt
su: PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_chauthtok

when I do a su, or trying to ssh to the machine.
All that works for 3.0.21c

Is pam_winbind somehow broken.
