OK.  reproduced it on a RedHat 7.3 box.  Strange....
Something is messing with the strncat() call.  strncat()
should be fine.  I've replaced with with strlcat() which
we test for and replace if necessary.  The other calls
to strncat are in code paths that probably don't get
built by default on your platform.
