Well, not all that many in the couple of weeks I've been reading. Most of
the conversation, with a few exceptions, has been between people with
samba.org addresses. I did feel like I was being ignored.

In fairness, I had already done a lot of investigation myself and come up
with some ideas based on my limited understanding of the code base. What
I was after was a quick sanity check of my proposals.

Well, not everyone can be involved in all projects - I've been involved in
a few and currently a lot of my time is taken with Asterisk. This work
I've been doing on Samba was in order to track down the error messages
that kept coming up in the logs on a customer's Asterisk box with mounted
Windows shares.

I certainly do understand the situation. As I said, I wasn't impatiently
asking for a fix, just a knowledgable pointer in the right direction, so I
could do the work myself. I got there in the end, once I found the bug
that the first fix uncovered.
