While samba.org is the spiritual home of LD_PRELOAD hacks, I'm really
hoping to avoid having to do that portably across all our build farm
machines...

In many way gethostbyname() is probably the easiest to do, as I can
handle it like the rest of socketwrapper.

I suppose I should start with that, and then see what's left...
