Maybe, but that's unlikely IMHO.

smbd can deal with files fine, it copies them both ways without problems.

It's only smbclient which has problems.

Besides - it should be fine:

/* Define to 1 if your processor stores words with the most significant byte
    first (like Motorola and SPARC, unlike Intel and VAX). */
/* #undef WORDS_BIGENDIAN */
