Call to determine a Mac FS is (not)sparse?

Steffond,

While at apple in June, we discussed fixing Samba4 on Apple.  You
suggested their was a call that could be made, to determine if a Mac FS
is sparse or not.  Any chance you could forward me a code snippit?

I've now found where I need to put the call, and I'm looking to try and
clear this one up on the build farm.
