Reducing the memory footprint of Samba3

Hi,

i would like to run Samba3 on a small device where the memory
footprint is critical. Basically i just want to serve files
and won't need or use any fancy features Samba supports
(printing for instance).

What are features which might be stripped?

Appart from stripping features are there other options for reducing
the memory consumption (reducing buffers/caches?)?

Does anyone know if Samba2 has a smaller memory footprint?
