Locking database cleanup?

Any probability/talks of using Berkeley DB (BDB) as a database backend
(has transactions & Opensource - BSD)? Since BDB has interfaces to
most scripting languages, it might make it easy to come up with lot of
auditing tools, cleanup tools etc...
