[PATCH] make sure we can always dump core on Linux

Hi all,

This fixes an occasionally annoying feature of Linux where programs that
use setuid calls don't get to dump core any more. There is some setting
under /proc (whose name I now forget) to change this on a system wide
basis. However, since we know how to dump core nicely, IMO we might as
well do it.

Comments appreciated, otherwise I'll merge it in a day or so ...
