Samba smbpasswd authentication gone

Hi all...I used to have security=server authentication for my user and shares using smbpasswd for authentication.  My recent migration of version 2 to 3 caused the shares not authenticated by smbpasswd and prompt for security=server authentication. May I find out if anyone has the same problem and what is the solution to this problem? Thanks.
