There were some printing bugs in 3.0.9/3.0.10 that would cause
this.  Try 3.0.11 or 3.0.12 perhaps.  Also if you have
'disable spoolss = yes' that could be the culprit as XP boxes
are known to drop back to frequent polling in this situation.
