Who was working on the ReactOS port ? Is this interesting to you ?
I know it is for Samba 3, but maybe it has some tidbits that
are of use.

cheers, jerry

Using the patch

http://www.smithii.com/files/samba-3.0.14a.cygwin.patch

I am able to run Samba 3.0.14a on a Windows XP box as well as under
BartPE (WinPE).

Details on the steps involved are listed at

http://smithii.com/?q=node/view/36

A better patch would be to use a ROOT_UID define, as outlined here:

http://lists.ccil.org/pipermail/fetchmail-friends/2002-August/006521.html

To quote:

"Although this patch was motivated by Cygwin, it should
be very usable by other odd-ball Unixes (if any) where the root UID is
not zero."

If a Samba committer is interested in this, I would be happy to make the
required changes and submit the patch.

Let me know,

Ross
