Open Firefox/Mozilla.
Type: "about:config" (no quotes) into the address bar.
When the menu appears, type: "browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs"
in the filter bar.
Right click, select "Toggle" to toggle the value to true.
Open "Edit" menu, Select the "Preferences" menu.
Under "Advanced" section, the "Tabbed Browsing" options will know have a
~ "Force links that open new windows to open in:"

Now you have the choice... open in same window or a new tab. :-) :-)
