Could i use samba in unix

i have some question.
i have used IBM AIX server for a few month and At this system is nfs
filesystem.
this machine is used other server filesystem by nfs......this machie is nfs
client

samba used, shared  nfs filesystem with NT client
but, sometimes this machine is hang so i  restart samba then system is OK.
...
so
Could i use samba by nfs filesystem..?
Happen to hang the unix system by samba application ?

samba version is latest..
AIX version is 5.1.0.4
