wins support question.

After advising number of people to set "wins support = yes" to fix their 
"Domain Controler not found" problems I finally looked in man smb.conf 
and saw "...that you should NEVER set this to yes...". My bad, I know.

Now, can somebody point me to the right direction to find out HOW 
Windows machines find PDC and what kind of problems can prevent them to 
find it before or after joining its Domain.
