Changing OU separator in net ads join ?

I'd like to change the separator used for constructing an OU in net ads 
join.  Currently, it is either \ or /, but this causes a problem with some 
other characters.  For example, we can't handle a # (bug 1374), because it 
needs to be escaped in the directory with a \, but all \'s are assumed to 
be separators.  Since we can already use a /, would anyone object if I 
changed it to use only "/"  ?
