nmb service problem

hi
  I am working in a Network department as a system assistant.We have 450 
computer's network.I install redhat 9.0 in one system.I install rpm of samba 
and configure smb.conf and then i type this command smbpasswd root.When i  
write this service smb restart then nmb service is failed messege is 
appear.Plz give any sollution.
