smblib outdated?

There are a couple of approaches to doing this :-)

There is the library (I think) that the squid folks use.

In libsmbclient, authentication is not explicitely exposed. Rather, it is 
part of the process of accessing a share.

If authentication is needed by some apps separately from the other 
functions, then perhaps we could expose that functionality.
