 I'd never used the command line smbclient  before today. I just wanted
 to get one file .... (and so on) It took me about ten minutes to figure
 out what command to use, based on the man file. Maybe im just a clod,
 but there are lots of us clods about you know.

It would be nice if there was a line that read :

  Typical usage 
  smbclient //johnspc/johnsfolder This will give an ftp like interface
  where you can use ls and get filename
