Help : Adding smb user on MAC OS X

Just a hint: MacOSX uses netinfo and has /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd 
(like other BSDs)

What is
nidump passwd .

saying? (notice the dot at the end of the command)
The system user will be in there and smbpasswd seems to look in 
/etc/{passwd|master.passwd}
