cached memory problem

Hi,


My samba (RH 7.3, 2.4.18, Samba-3.0.0) server is 4 processors and 1Gb
Ram and 2 Gb Swap. There are 600 simultaneous smbd process. Everything
works perfectly, except that sometimes (once per day), during 2-3
minutes, the server doesn't works anymore. 

During the problem, the following observation has been made :

huge load average : 450, x, y
and the Cached Memory is freeing

It's seems that each smbd process want to free them cached memory !
