The lack of byte range locking

Hi,

I have been doing some testing with byte range locking turned off and it
seems that quite a lot of activity on a Windows client can tolerate the
lack of byte range locking (get back NOT_IMPLEMENTED).

Does anyone know of any applications, apart from those that try to
coordinate sharing between two or more users, that would fail with byte
range locking turned off?

Regards
