There are other reasons to distribute 'using samba' outside the main
tarball.  Using Samba is licenced under the GNU FDL, which  - rightly or
wrongly - is getting a bad name, with Debian possibly not distributing
such documentation.  Putting that into a separate tarball would avoid
the need to have 'modified tarballs', with that documentation removed.
