Too many ACE entries for file (ACL)

You didn't mention what version of Samba or what os type and version you are running on, but for HP-UX, for instance, there is a finite (and rather small) limit to the number of ace's a file or directory can have on it. I would suspect that this is what your error is trying to tell you. Investigate via man pages, etc on your particular opsys against get/setacl, and posix acl man pages to find out what limits are set on ace's on posix files.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi,

What could be the reason of this message :

convert_canon_ace_to_posix_perms: Too many ACE entries for file
test/file to convert to posix perms.

with the following command :

smbcacls -S ACL:user:ALLOWED/0/READ -U Administrator //127.0.0.1/TMP
/test/file

thank you,
