Folks,

Here's an update on what's going on.  

First, just so so one gets worried, there is 
not going to be a release today. 

Second, I'm evaluating the SAMBA_3_0 branch today 
(and probably tomorrow as well to see if we can 
make the feature freeze official move onto testing.
If this goes well, it will immediately be followed by
3.0alpha24 (the last planned alpha release) so that people
can have a reference point for testing.  Expect something
by Wednesday afternoon CDT (GMT-5).

During the sanity tests before we go beta, the main focus 
will be on stability and correctness (performance counts as
well but it is hard to measure the performance of something 
that doesn't work quite right).  As such, bugzilla will 
be very important :-)

Marc Kaplan is working on drafts of bug reporting best 
practices and also guidelines for Samba/bugzilla use 
(what the fields mean to us).
