Yes, it seems so. The bugID 4743707 is fixed for Sol9 but not mentioned
elsewhere.

I've posted before, but Solaris 9 requires patch 113476-05 for winbind nss
to
work correctly.  Maybe they backported the nss code before that fix went in?
