Need to follow up on the latter one: I had tried it on a 11.11
box this morning, with PHCO_25452 (libc cumulative) installed.
After upgrading to PHCO_27740 mask oddities are gone. Finally,
with "inherit acls = Yes" 2.2.8 behaved correctly on an example
setup similar to yours.

The observation above makes me even more optimistic that
this option could also help with Linux and XFS :)
