What permissions do you need to read a fike on Win2K?

Right.  In smbd/posix_acls.c the definition:

 #define FILE_SPECIFIC_WRITE_BITS
(FILE_WRITE_DATA|FILE_APPEND_DATA|FILE_WRITE_EA|FILE_WRITE_ATTRIBUTES)

is used to set the required perms in the ACL.
