A problem with "net" command

When opening a telnet session with my account on the unix system, the "net" command is not asking "root" password but the my password. The command writes also my username instead of "root".
Also after changing to "root", the "net" command prints my username instead of "root".
In order to get the command to work correctly, I have to open a telnet session with root.
