Ok, tests show that:
Your fix together with Andrew Bartlett's clean up of LDAP produces desired
result. It is possible now to store everything in LDAP and use
'idmap backend = ldap', 'passdb backend = ldapsam' in case of
'security = user' for installations from scratch.
