Using shared libraries?

Pretty standard:  -l smbclient

You may need -L <libdir> if not standard

Well, yes, but ... libsmbclient contains so much also needed by Samba, 
that you can link against libsmbclient.so and save lots of space.

The question remains, how to do it on NetBSD?
